ABOUT the director

PAOLO VILLLALUNA is a Filipino filmmaker and is one of the Philippine New Wave’s “most significant, most exciting digital frontliners of the alternative movement” (Philippine New Wave, Movfest Publishings, 2010).

His collective filmography has competed and/or won in international film festivals like Busan IFF, Montreal WFF, Thessaloniki IFF, New York Fests, Clermont-Ferrand IFF, Soho IFF, Rotterdam IFF, Yamagata IFF and Torino IFF.

His latest feature-length PEDICAB (Pauwi Na, 2016) won the prestigious Golden Goblet at the 2017 Shanghai International Film Festival.

With Journalist Patricia Evangelista, he was co-creator and director of the groundbreaking documentary series, STORYLINE (ABSCBN, 2008-2016).

He is ane of the in-house directors of the country’s biggest advertising supplier Filmex, and is sought after for his singular documentary style. He’s made successful TVC campaigns working with brands like Jollibee, Tide, McDonald’s, HSBC and Nescafe.
